The Rating Method

Movies are rated on a 1000-point scale that’s then converted into a 4-star output. Sub-scores are given much like a school grade, 0-100, for the following categories:

  • Re-watchability    (analytics-driven)
  • Quality of humor    (analytics-driven)
  • Quality of action    (analytics-driven)
  • Quality of drama    (analytics-driven)
  • Quality of acting    (analytics-driven)
  • Snap judgment    (heart-driven)

Each of the analytical categories are worth 100 points out of the 1000-point scale with snap judgement accounting for 500 possible points. In cases where a movie doesn't have comedy, action, or drama, the average score of the other categories is recorded.  Movies are evaluated by this method and the average of their ratings is called the MC Score. Below is an example of the method at work.
