Madolyn contacts her superior, Caroline Van Sant, who insists Winston must stay alive to testify. Caroline reveals Winston had stolen $1 million from Moretti and the real Daryl Booth was killed by the assassin. Madolyn grows suspicious of Caroline and contacts Director Coleridge. Coleridge unknowingly exposes his ties to Moretti when he mentions an address Winston recognizes from a past payment.

The assassin taunts Winston and threatens his mother, revealing Madolyn’s past failure that led to a witness’s death. Hassan, a pilot in Anchorage, helps Madolyn fly the plane. The assassin attacks again, injuring Winston and strangling Madolyn. Winston helps her, and Madolyn shoots the assassin with a flare gun, incapacitating him.

Coleridge calls to inform Madolyn that Caroline was killed in a car accident, and Madolyn vows to bring him down with Moretti. Hassan helps Madolyn land the plane, but the assassin attacks once more. The assassin is thrown from the plane and killed by an emergency vehicle as he stands up on the runway. 

Winston is rushed into an ambulance by the ground crew as Madolyn is greeted by a smiling Hassan. However, she notices a suspicious-looking police officer entering the ambulance. She follows the officer and shoots him dead as she catches him trying to asphyxiate Winston. She picks up the officer's phone and tells Coleridge, who was on the other end giving the order to the corrupt officer, that he will be going down for a long time. She shares a smile with Winston as the ambulance leaves for the hospital.
